CARA Station Group Overview:
All welcome. CARA Station Group members are interested in a wide range of ham radio pursuits. Everything from HF SSB, CW, and digital modes to simplex communication using VHF / UHF frequencies including satellites. We also manage the club's remote stations.

Next Meeting : Remote Ham Radio Night!

Remote Ham Radio  -
In amateur radio, remote ham radio operation refers to controlling a transceiver located physically away from your location. Remote radios are usually accessed over an internet connection.

Right now, CARA offers members full control of 4 different operating positions using a simple point and click interface for Windows. You can even use Android phones! It doesn't get any easier. You can have remote access to HF, VHF and even listen to amateur satellites as they pass over Calgary.

Bring your laptop and we can help get it configured at the meeting.

Industry Canada requires remote users to hold an Advanced licence but if your not there yet drop by the meeting anyhow and see what we offer. It just might be the motivation to upgrade your ticket.

Agenda:

1) Presentation by Jack, VE6CCM, on CARA's remote ham radio offerings. Bring your laptop if you would like it to be configured during the meeting. A quick look at photos and details of the very impressive VE6WZ remote as a benchmark for possible new CARA remote locations.

2) Mike, VE6TC, will update us on his adventure with ham radio in Quebec last summer and discuss group announcements, getting organized for this year, conditions at our club station, listen to your ideas, plan upcoming activities and future meetings.
